Our oldest daughter’s best friend is visiting from Kansas and Ceecee took a day and went to Branson with them. They intended to go to silver Dollar City, but it was closed when they got there. I guess it’s only open limited hours this time of year.

Instead, they went to Branson Landing, shopped, ate, and took silly pictures. I can’t help but think about what might have been (I should say what might not have been) if we hadn’t gotten back together. This was Angie, the same daughter who was completely distraught when we were separated because she believed that we had a marriage that she wanted to pattern her own after and then was shattered when ours seemed to be ending.

Silver Dollar City was great last night! We went on Powder Keg in the very front seats in the dark and you couldn’t see what was in front of you, so we didn’t know when we were about to drop. Wow, it was awesome!

Today, the tension between us is still there, though, and rising. I talked to my therapist about it. It’s affecting me in the bedroom, because I don’t know what’s going on and there’s something between us that isn’t right. He said that’s very common and that we need to learn to trust each other again because we’ve both been hurt very deeply by everything that’s happened. He advised me to take it slow and even kind of date and “get to know” Ceecee again.

This afternoon, I was on my way to the gym with Taylor when the recruiting Sargent called and said they were giving him his test today in about 30 minutes. He was pretty freaked out. I called Ceecee and she met us there and he passed the test. They said they had a job for him, so it could be right away or not for another month or two before he got called up.

Tonight is first friday art walk downtown and we are all going to go.

Things have been really good and a little weird all at the same time. It’s wonderful to be back together, but we haven’t really talked much about anything and Ceecee keeps saying that she’s not proud of what she did and that she hopes that I can accept her and she never wants to hurt me. I keep telling her that it’s my fault for not loving her and being the man I promised to be, but she’s carrying some kind of guilt or something.

Of course, my mind is all over the place with what that means. I’ve never suspected her of being unfaithful because she promised me she wouldn’t be and a few weeks ago, when I said that it had been three months, she said it had been three months for her too. She also said something weird about not wanting me to be upset, but she had exchanged gifts with this guy who is one of her old boyfriends. He’s been on Facebook and I’ve always suspected that he was interested in her as more than a friend, but he lives in another state.

Anyway, I know that anything’s possible, so maybe she had some inappropriate communication with someone over the internet. Maybe she did have some kind of a fling with someone, although I can’t imagine that. I’ve prayed and asked God, but He won’t tell me anything. Whatever it is, I keep telling her it doesn’t matter. We’re together again and things will never be the way they were and that’s what’s important.

Ceecee and I have been riding our bikes together this week and that’s been really cool. We’re planning on riding in the Tour de Cox this Saturday. It’s a 62 mile ride with a 43 and a 26 mile option. I don’t know that we can do the whole 62 miles. We’ve never ridden that far before.

Tonight, we’re going to Silver Dollar City for “Moonlight Madness.” That’s when they are open at night for just a short time out of the year and you can ride the rides in the dark. Should be fun. We only have one more full week of Summer before we go back to school.

Silver Dollar City was great today! Ceecee let me spoil her a little bit. I bought her this huge balloon that she carried all over and I took a bunch of pictures of her. We played around and went on a bunch of rides. It really felt pretty casual and then we stopped for food on the way home and she wanted me to watch a movie at the loft and stay with her overnight again. I’ve been staying almost every night on the weekends!

Last night was interesting. I didn’t bring Taylor to art walk and the reason was totally selfish. I figured that since art walk is downtown, where Ceecee’s apartment is, and that it would be at night, maybe if things went well she would ask me to spend the night again.

I also didn’t want it to be pressure, so I invited Adam, a mutual friend. He was worried about it, but I told him it would be fine and it was. We had a really good time. Ceecee wore my favorite brown shirt that I bought for her and she looked so amazing in it. We held hands all night and had fun and it just seemed so crazy that we’re not together. I did stay the night at her place and again, nothing happened, but it felt good to be there, even though it’s all really confusing.

I called Adam the next morning after I went back to Republic and asked him, “Are you as confused as I am about why we’re not together?” I figured he saw the whole thing and it didn’t make any sense that Ceecee and I could be like that, but not have a relationship. He said something really cool. He said, “You two are opposite sides of the same coin. You two are one.” I told Ceecee over the phone that he said that, but she didn’t say anything back. Tomorrow, we’re going to Silver Dollar City for the fourth of July, though.

Tonight we had a bike ride for triathlon training. Ceecee didn’t go. In fact, she hasn’t gone since the first night. It’s partly because she works irregular hours at her new job and I think she also feels uncomfortable because of what’s going on in our marriage. Something is a little bit wrong with my bike and the guy teaching the class told me where to take it to get it fixed.

Taking a break from all the running and working out and Ceecee and I went to Silver Dollar City again. We really had fun. She let me buy her this really big balloon with other balloons inside of it and we had a super day. The best we’ve had in a long time. We didn’t kiss or anything, but we held hands and went on a lot of rides and had a great time together.

Tonight we had a blast! I have a story for the Springfield Business Journal (a local paper I write for) where we have to try to pair wines with chocolate. It’s Askinosie chocolate, made here in Springfield, and it’s some of the best chocolate you could ever taste. I got some wineries to send me bottles that they think will go well with it and we invited two other couples to taste and make notes. Tomorrow we’re going to do it again with some other couples.

Every year, on one of the last Fridays of the school year, our junior high sponsors what they call “eighth grade weekend.” It’s a field trip for eighth grade only where they get to go on an all day trip to Silver Dollar City. Ceecee and I both got to go this year because she was recruited to walk around with some special needs students. It was a nice day and we had a good time. I’m still pretty freaked out from last night, but today didn’t seem any different than any other lately.

Ceecee found out today that her brother from Tennessee is coming for a surprise visit to celebrate Taylor’s graduation. What she doesn’t realize is that the surprise is on her. She really wants a bike that she can start training to race in triathlons, but even used, they are really expensive and we’re pretty broke right now. I’ve been shopping on line, but we haven’t been able to find anything that way.

Somehow, I was talking to her stepmom in Tennessee the other day and she told me that they have one that is almost new and they would be willing to let me have it for next to nothing. Then we were trying to figure out how to get it shipped here and this idea of Steven coming to visit materialized and there it was. He has a pick-up truck and he’s driving out. He is bringing the bike and is going to take it to Angie’s house where we’ll keep it until Ceecee’s birthday. I can’t wait! I love pulling off these kinds of surprises!

A surprise I didn’t like was finding out I have jury duty the Monday after school gets out. What a way to start my Summer vacation. Oh, well. Maybe it won’t happen. A lot of times these things get cancelled.

Took Ceecee to Silver Dollar City this afternoon. It’s a theme park in Branson based on the 1880’s. When we first moved to Missouri, it was one of our favorite places to go. The kids loved it, we loved it, and we went all the time. We used to get season passes every year, but then for a couple of years, we didn’t. This past year, we bought them again, just for the two of us.

I’m glad we did, because it’s still sort of a magical place for us. It was really great to see Ceecee excited about getting away for a day and we always have fun there. Not only that, but we’re more romantic. Ceecee is always extra loving when we’re there, although I’m not sure why.

Today was fun. We took silly pictures, rode rides, and ate unhealthy, but good tasting food. Good day.
